I was on Pandora.com recently, and listening to my Superchic(k) station when I came across a GREAT song by Barlowgirl and another great song by Superchic(k). I thought that it'd be a GREAT idea to post the lyrics so everyone could see them. It made me smile :)
Average Girl by Barlowgirl
So what I"m not your average girl
I don't meet the standards of this world
Chasing after boys is not my thing
See I'm waiting for a wedding ring
No more dating
I'm just waiting
Like sleeping beauty
My prince will come for me
No more dating I'm just waiting
'Cause God is writing my love story
Boys are bad that's certainly not true
'Cause God's preparing one for you
If you get tired waiting till he comes
Gods arms are the perfect place to run
No more dating
I'm just waiting
Like sleeping beauty
My prince will come for me
No more dating I'm just waiting
'Cause God is writing my love story
my love story
Sleep that's the only thing
For me 'cause when I sleep Gods
Preparing one for me
Chasing after boys is not my thing
See I'm waiting for a wedding ring
No more dating
I'm just waiting
Like sleeping beauty
My prince will come for me
No more dating I'm just waiting
'Cause God is writing my love story
Boys are bad that's certainly not true
'Cause God's preparing one for you
If you get tired waiting till he comes
Gods arms are the perfect place to run
No more dating
I'm just waiting
Like sleeping beauty
No more dating
I'm just waiting
Like sleeping beauty
No more dating I'm just waiting
'Cause God is writing my love story
No more dating I'm just waiting
'Cause God is writing my love story
No more dating I'm just waiting
Princes and Frogs by Superchic(k)
All princes start as frogs and all gentlemen as dogs
Just wait till its plain to see
What we're growing up to be
Cause Some frogs will still be frogs
And Some dogs will still be dogs
Some boys could become men
Just don't kiss us 'til then.
You hate men is what you say and I understand how you feel that way
All girls dream of a fairy tale
But what you've got's like a used car salesman
Trying to conceal what's wrong behind a smile and the song
And I'm not saying that boys are not like that
But I think you should know (you should)
That some of us will grow
Because. . .
All princes start as frogs and all gentlemen as dogs
Just wait till its plain to see
What we're growing up to be
Cause Some frogs will still be frogs
And Some dogs will still be dogs
Some boys could become men
Just don't kiss us 'til then.
You found him is what you say
And we all want you to feel that way
But the frog you've got seems cute enough to kiss
And maybe frogs seem like that's all their is
But just because you haven't found your prince yet
Doesn't mean you're still not a princess
And what if if your prince comes riding in
While you're kissin' a frog what's he gonna think then
So look into his eyes
Are you a princess or a fly?
All princes start as frogs and all gentlemen as dogs
Just wait till its plain to see
What we're growing up to be
Cause Some frogs will still be frogs
And Some dogs will still be dogs
Some boys could become men
Just don't kiss us 'til then.

Tell Me I'm Beautiful
I highly doubt it's possible to be told you're beautiful by thin air. If it were possible girls wouldn't always want males to tell them how beautiful they are. Yet, because us poor females cannot be affirmed by a passing breeze, we have to be told we're beautiful - by boys. As I grow older I can feel the need, even passion, to be told I'm pretty by somebody other than my parents or family. I expect most girls agree with me on this. Now don't get me wrong, it's great to be affirmed by the people who love us most, but honestly we want to be told we are beautiful by other people too.
So the other day I was reading my bible. And as I was reading I was told I was beautiful! Really, I was told that I am beautiful. I tried to wrap my brain around how God has called me beautiful without really noticing it before! He told me I was beautiful, when a normal boy didn't. The verse I ran across was this:
"You're so beautiful, my darling, so beautiful, and your dove eyes are veiled
By your hair as it flows and shimmers,
like a flock of goats in the distance
streaming down a hillside in the sunshine."
Song of Solomon 4:1-2
I'm not sure if I'm right, but I'm pretty sure that God said all girls, all daughters, are beautiful. Why did I have this petty desire to be called "beautiful" by a dude when my Lord could call me that? Why hadn't I noticed that Jesus calls me beautiful? The answer: Because I didn't look.
If you liked a boy, and you lived thousands of miles apart, and you could never call or text him, but only email and write letters to him, wouldn't you read the letters he sent? In fact, wouldn't you read them over and over and over? Probably. So then, let's say that God's the boy you like, and He sends you all these great letters (the Bible), but you never look at them. So then how can you know if he really loves you, if he cares and is giving you advice, or if he's calling you gorgeous when you never read the letters? You can't know if you don't read all of His letters. So start reading! ;)
